Pilates trainer to the stars Bernadette Fahey reveals the workout secrets behind some of Sydney’s most powerful socialites.

The founder of Body By Bernerhelps trains Eastern Suburbs stars including artist Dina Broadhurst, stylist Jade Yarbrough and model Madeleine Holtznagel.

Bernadette told Daily Mail Australia, she began her exercise sessions with meditation and breathing.

He then incorporates stretches to warm up the body before ‘targeting the muscles with small repetitive movements.’

Bernadette says she recommends planking because it ‘works the whole body’, and ‘lunges are a great way to sculpt the legs, work on balance and load your glute muscles’.

‘Abdominal crunches are also great for getting definition in the top of the abs,’ she adds.

He explains that it’s important to exercise every day but says it’s important to include a more moderate to high intensity workout at least three times a week.

Bernadette also revealed that the easiest way to stay fit during Christmas is to do a few star jumps to get the heart rate up for up to five minutes.

When it comes to diet, the expert says it’s important to ‘have a rounded diet’.

‘Having a really well-rounded diet is important. If you have a chocolate craving, you can reach for medjool dates which have natural sugar in them,’ she explains.

‘But don’t restrict yourself because that’s when you start to binge. Everything in moderation.’

Bernadette says she drinks 1.5-2 liters of water a day, snacks on berries because they are low in sugar and high in antioxidants and also enjoys a handful of nuts.

For lunch and dinner, she enjoys a salad with protein and some carbs.

Bernadette used to work in PR in New York but decided to enroll in the Polestar Pilates course during the 2020 lockdown.

‘I got my certification and worked at every major studio in Sydney and did private classes from my apartment in Tamarama and my business took off,’ she says.

‘I have a following and I think it’s my teaching style and the unique setting is in an apartment with a view.’

‘When my home business started to grow, I stopped working at other studios and then outgrew my home studio and started looking for a site. I opened in May this year.’

Bernadette revealed that she is also set to launch an online platform.
